The Royal Chef Announces the Healthy Fare Proclamation at Dutch Wonderland

The Royal Chef at Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park has created new healthier menu items for all park guests. In addition to traditional park favorites like hot dogs and funnel cakes, guests can now enjoy such healthier treats as poultry dogs, turkey burgers, Lean Cuisine entrees, salads, fresh fruit and vegetables, whole-wheat snacks, baked potatoes, and more. Dutch Wonderland menus will soon feature a picture of the Royal Chef to help guests designate which items are the healthier choices.

"We realize that childhood obesity is a major concern for parents, and we want to be a part of the solution," says Rick Stammel, General Manager of Dutch Wonderland. "One of our many guest-focused initiatives this year was to add healthy menu items that families will enjoy."

"As part of the Healthy Fare Proclamation, the Food and Beverage Department created a "Healthy Foods and Allergen Guide" that identifies locations in the park that offer healthy items and also outlines foods that may contain ingredients that are common allergies," says Heather Sheehan, Director of Food and Beverage.

Stammel adds, "More and more children have food allergies, and we want to create an atmosphere and environment where both children and parents feel comfortable. Our "Healthy Food and Allergen Guide" will help families make educated dining choices throughout the park."

Dutch Wonderland has also partnered with Kegel's Produce to provide a nutritional and educational experience on most Wednesdays in the park. Kids will have the chance to sample fresh fruits and vegetables and also participate in hands-on activities like making whole-wheat tortilla wraps. The Kegel's Produce events will run from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

"Kids really enjoy the interactive experiences we offer at Dutch Wonderland," says Sheehan. "The events sponsored by Kegel's Produce will ultimately provide an educational and fun experience with healthy food."

Admission prices are $28.95 for Royalty (ages 3-59), $23.95 for Senior Royalty (ages 60-69) and $16.95 for Senior Plus Royalty (ages 70 and over). Royalty in Training (ages 2 and under) are free.
