Dutch Wonderland Grand Opening Set for May 3 and 4

On Saturday, May 3, 2008, Dutch Wonderland, A Kingdom For Kids! will open its castle doors for its 45th season of "Making Firsts Happen"! From first roller coaster rides to first tastes of cotton candy to first times "driving" a car, Dutch Wonderland provides many of the first and most memorable moments in a child's life.

Highlights for grand opening weekend include a return appearance by America's Got Talent winner Bianca Ryan. Ryan will perform two concerts on both Saturday and Sunday. Her performances are free with paid Park admission.

Additions to the Park for 2008 include two new live stage shows, called Thomas & Friends Live at Dutch Wonderland and Beyond the Castle Walls; and a new interactive play element at Duke's Lagoon water-play area.

Thomas & Friends Live at Dutch Wonderland is scheduled for four performances daily during the regular Park season. The train-themed sing-a-long features some Thomas favorites, including "We Work Together," "It's Great to Be an Engine" and many more. Come join Thomas and his engineers as they cheer him on with singing, dancing and a whole lot of encouragement. Photo opportunities with Thomas the Tank Engine and his conductors will be available for Park guests following each show.

Beyond the Castle Walls, a new stage show based on the children's book of the same name, will highlight the travels and adventures of Princess Brooke and her friends. Beyond the Castle Walls will be a live performance available only at Dutch Wonderland.

Duke's Lagoon, which was introduced to the Park in 2003, is getting a makeover. The new play structure features more than 20 interactive play elements, including a 70-foot geyser, four kiddie water-blasters, two pump stations and more. In addition to the new play structure, Duke's Lagoon will also have personal cabanas for families to rent while they enjoy the park. Each spacious, private cabana includes two lounge chairs and a dining table with four chairs. Guests can also order food and beverages from the comfort of their cabanas. Each cabana can accommodate up to six guests. Duke's Lagoon opens Memorial Day weekend.

Dutch Wonderland will be open weekends beginning Saturday, May 3, and daily beginning Memorial Day weekend. Duke's Lagoon water-play area opens Memorial Day weekend. Admission prices are $29.95 for Royalty (ages 3-59), $24.95 for Senior Royalty (ages 60-69) and $17.95 for Senior Plus Royalty (ages 70 and over). Royalty-In-Training (ages 2 and under) are free.
